Science and I
Other than the required high school courses and the stereotypical medical television, I have not had a great deal of exposure to the world of science, although I find many aspects of science quite interesting. I have never really studied much of this, but I have always been fascinated by life outside of our planet earth. I find it very hard to believe that there are no other life forms in the entire universe. For example, just last year a potentially life supporting planet was found just eleven lightyears away from earth (of course, that is very far, but we are going to look passed that for now).
Again, my lack of education on science in general as well as the specific subject of astronomy limits my ability to speak on the subject. However, that is something that has intrigued me since I was young and I hope to learn much more on the subject.
I think its really cool you are interested in life outside our planet! I encourage you to take many different types of science courses offered to get a better understanding of what science is really like. I personally have taken many and each one is better than the last! Your blog was very concise about you and the connection you have with science , and I hope in this class you will learn more and be able to blog about new information!
ReplyDeleteI also find astronomy and the study of things foreign to this planet very interesting as well. Im right there with you in agreeing that there is definitely life somewhere else out there in the universe, I think the better question is if that life is intelligent enough to make contact with us. I know that you said you were never really the science type, but if you want to open up to new things, college is the best time to do it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the thoughtful comment Benn!
DeleteGood start David. I'd love to hear more about the science classes you took in high school and what your experience with them was, and how your family feels about science (are science topics often discussed, is it encouraged, do they focus on discussing other issues like sports, politics, etc...) for example. I'd also like you to add a science-related image or photo of yourself. When you insert it, make sure to click "left" or "right" so that the text wraps around it and it looks better.
